Summary:Given the enormous importance of US-European relations after 1945, the cultural exchange across the Atlantic has deserved some attention, especially with respect to the German-speaking lands. However, the Catholic component of this exchange has not been studied in detail yet. This article aims at highlighting several aspects, which deserve further research. From the Colonial times onwards up until World War I, German and American Catholicism have been entangled to a large extent.
