Description
Summary:Latin American theology experienced significant development after the Second Vatican Council and succeeded in enriching the wider body of Christian theology, establishing itself in research and educational institutions. In most of the region's countries, there is a clear separation between Church and state, and this has often led to the study of religion from a social sciences perspective in state universities. Theology, in general, is taught in confessional universities or diocesan seminaries, as well as in religious congregations' training houses, and in the institutions of other Christian denominations and other religions. This text will provide an overview of the situation in some Latin American countries and reflect on some of its characteristics and challenges.
