Summary:The authors examined the official reports of Thomas Merton's death from the government of Thailand and the US Embassy in Bangkok. They obtained official letters and documents from the National Archives and the Thomas Merton Center. The official Thai records and US Embassy Report of Merton's death state that the death was by a natural cause, "sudden heart failure," and not "accidental electrocution," as popularly believed.
