Description
Summary:The quotation from Is 53,7-8 in Acts 8,32-33 has a threefold effect. On the level of the plot, the reasons for the innocence and suffering of the Servant mark the development of the narrative sequence of Acts 8,4-12,25. Moreover, the model of the Servant of YHWH makes it possible to recognize in Jesus the figure of the prophet repudiated by the people, but exalted by God. Finally, the Isaian passage is functional to the theological project of Luke that provides for the reception of those who for physical, ethnic, religious reasons (as in the case of the eunuch) were excluded from the Judaism of the Second Temple period.
