Sumario:The identity of the bishop is an intricate issue. For one, the bishop has an identity as a bishop of the Particular Church and, for another, he is a bishop in the Universal Church. This study attempts to explore these concerns. It aims to expose the particular identity of the bishop of the Particular Church and dissect his identity in the Universal Church and locate the reasons for such positions and movements in these distinct Churches (yet one). In this exploration, the lens of Ratzinger, the theologian, is used. Moreover, this exploration discovers that the bishop serves as the hinge between the Particular Church and Universal Church. For this reason, his role is as crucial as the apostles during the time of Jesus.
