Summary: | Conversion in the philosophy of René Girard turns out to be a very important concept. In this text we want to postulate that Girardian conversion should not only be understood as a religious transformation but also as a complex act that calls for a change in human behavior or ethos and is therefore halfway between ethics and politics. For the above, we will study, first, mimesis in Girard's work; second, conversion in the philosopher's work, for which we will address the concepts of metanoia and epistrophē; and third, we will conclude that conversion demands an ethical procedure of revision of one's own conduct and a political procedure of peace and reconciliation. |
