Description
Summary:Early scholars of the Bar Kokhba Revolt were the first to introduce the question of the role of Galilee with this event. Fragments of historical data that have come to light are not conclusive. Dio Cassius’ reference to Judea as the place where the revolt took place has been interpreted to mean the immediate geographic region of Judea and not the Province of Judea, which included the Galilee. The article provides archeological findings from the Galilee hiding complexes relative to this period. Evidence emerging from studies undertaken of the Galilee hiding complexes provides a valuable, comparative perspective in relation to the Judean hiding complexes that have been dated to the time of the Bar Kokhba revolt.
