Description
Summary:There are two reasons why Old Testament Essays, volume 4 is special to us: a) our Department is this year 25 years old, and b) we are publishing a number of contributions by German speaking scholars, about which we shall say much more shortly. This is not meant to be a jubilee issue. That will be taken care of next year, we hope. This issue reflects an overseas study tour which our Department organised in 1984 to West Germany and Switzerland. By publishing some of the papers read to our group we want to pay tribute to all who contributed to the success of this undertaking in one way or another. This was a golden opportunity for building bridges between individuals as well as between scholars in the Old Testament from two widely separated continents. Perhaps this was the first of its kind in in old Testament circles. We hope, not the last!
