This article discusses the text not only as a source for the biography of the saint, but also as a window into the religious history of a late antique town which has hitherto received little attention. In particular, this Life reveals how important a figure like Alypios was in an area that could not look back on a long church history, nor could it claim martyrs or other paragons of faith from the past. | ||

L'article étudie le texte non seulement en tant que source de la biographie du saint, mais aussi comme une fenêtre ouverte sur l'histoire religieuse d'une ville de l'Antiquité tardive qui n’a que peu retenu l'attention jusqu'à présent. En particulier, cette Vie révèle toute l'importance de la personnalité d'Alypios dans une région qui ne pouvait pas se prévaloir d'une longue histoire chrétienne, ni se réclamer de martyrs ou d'autres modèles de foi antérieurs. | ||
