Description
Summary:The masculine dependency of the modern feminine convents was sometimes the origin of confrontations and struggles that exceeded the cloistered walls and generated different sources of conflict. This was the case that affected the convent of Sancti Spiritus from Granada, whose Dominican community began a process to pass from regular to ordinary jurisdiction in the second half of the 18th century. The reasons that led them to make this decision could be various, but they used as their main argument the abuses they experienced by their superiors in the sacrament of confession. However, this process also makes it possible to analyze how far the hostilities reached and what were the aspects of the conflict, since they not only affected the nuns and their superiors, but also involved other religious, clergy and the archbishopric of Granada.
