Description
Summary:Given that the crucial issue for theology today is to finally find an authentic relationship with the reading of Scripture, the article shows Beauchamp's contribution to the recognition of biblical typology as a necessary way of doing biblical theology. In fidelity to the dynamism intrinsic to the biblical texts of the Old and New Testaments, the French Jesuit proposes an interpretative model that draws the progressiveness of revelation in the form of a spiral, drawing on the narrative dimension of the biblical accounts of the OT. This dynamic perspective already belongs to the conciliar constitution Dei Verbum. In Jesus Christ, in his living person is found the unity of the book. The biblical word is constantly searching for a body. The reader is empowered by the Scriptures to an appropriation, by means of an explanation that is already refiguration, to say "other" but not the "same" in order to open the understanding to a "more", which is new precisely because it belongs to the one who receives that word.
