| Summary: | This essay arises from the need to reconstruct the events that led to the creation of the Institute and Library of Public Law of the Faculty of Jurisprudence of the Royal University of Rome, which germinated thanks precisely to Arturo Carlo Jemolo’s input. The period under investigation is full of relevant events and circumstances: the Second World War, the fall of Fascism, the anti-Semitic persecution, the Italian “Resistance”, the transition from Monarchy to Republic, and the promulgation of the Italian Constitution. The echo of these events can be found in the affairs of the Library and the Institute of Public Law, and at some junctures, it forms an integral part of them. The essay also includes some bio-bibliographical entries on eminent personalities of the legal culture of the period, whom Jemolo encountered during his academic and institutional activity. |
