| Summary: | This paper aims at analyzing the historical trajectories that draw the Ethiopian framework in which new evangelical and Pentecostal movement moves in. Particularly, it aims at exploring the strong tie between the Ethiopian State and the local orthodox Church. After a brief exploration of that tie, the paper offers an explanation of the evangelical penetration into the country even compared with previous non-orthodox missionaries. The article tries to shed light upon what is/was at stake in the religious conversions and about the wider struggle for the conquering of spaces in religious arena. In conclusion it will be summarized the distinguishing elements of the local context to rise up some opened reflections on the complexity encountered by the scholar who puts his/her hands in this object and area. |
