Description
Summary:This article turns to Lucia Engombe’s memoir, Child No. 95: My German-African Odyssey, to unearth how Engombe wrestles with Marxism and Christianity to produce a type of liberation theology that substantiates some of Gustavo Gutiérrez’s key positions on such themes, which have been contested by critics since the publication of his A Theology of Liberation in 1971. Rich in Christian theological and biblical motifs, Engombe’s narrative can be viewed as a Christian coming-of-age story.
