Description
Summary:The author of this article explored ways in which religion and spirituality can be integrated into counselor training through the structure of a specialized course. Spirituality has been recognized as an important consideration within the work of counseling. Yet, the implementation of spiritual integration in counseling has been inconsistent due to identified barriers such as lack of training and self-awareness (specifically regarding aservic’s competencies). Previous literature on spirituality and religion in counselor education is reviewed, and a framework of a specialized course on spiritual integration in counseling that infuses antiracism and can be taught virtually or in person is provided.
