L’examen archéologique des installations en place révèle deux phases initiales qui se sont succédé dans la première moitié du vie siècle, mettant en évidence la volonté, de la part d’une communauté monastique de Judée, de pérenniser alors des pratiques anciennes où l’eau vive, étroitement liée à l’idéologie du Salut, se place au cœur des rites en vigueur. | ||

It is traditionally related to John the Baptist’s early ministry, prior to his settlement on the shore of the Jordan river. The archaeological examination of the existing installations reveals two initial phases that succeeded each other in the first half of the sixth century. It consequently sheds light on a Judean monastic community then willing to perpetuate ancient practices where the living water, closely linked to the ideology of Salvation, is placed at the heart of the rites in force. | ||
