Description
Summary:From the first days of the Russo-Ukrainian war the Catholic Church in Poland has offered support and help to war refugees. The help for them is multidimensional, including religious formation and education. This article highlights the importance of systematic (permanent) ecumenical formation in Poland regarding the process of religious education. At the beginning it is discussed how to understand the ecumenical dimension of religious education. Afterwards, the meaning of ecumenical formation is explained and a few examples of various ecumenical happenings and actions in Poland are included, especially those that present good ground for ecumenical formation, lastly, particular actions of some Polish dioceses toward Ukrainian war refugees are described as well as the work of school-based Caritas associations. In conclusion, the author argues that mutual rapprochement starts by personal encounter. Consequently, the deeper knowledge of religious affiliation leads to better understanding, respect and dialogue.
