| Summary: | In the framework of the history of missions' development, the article outlines the legal status of fidei donum priests through an analysis of their participation to this particular kind of mission ad gentes since the beginning till today. In the perspective of Pope Pius XII Encyclica Letter Fidei donum and the canonical norms in force, the Author points out that fidei donum priests are endowed with qualifying juridical institutions, as that of transmigration, granting them the possibility to move from one particular church to another through the so called licentia transimgrandi. In this way, Church Communion is highlighted and made visible through the exchange of pastors which carry out the mandate to proclaim the Gospel. A special focus is given to the legal status of Italian and Polish fidei donum priests operating in the Archdiocese of Lusaka (Zambia). Dai sacerdoti fidei donum al movimento fidei donum Nel contesto degli sviluppi della storia delle missioni, l'articolo prospetta lo statuto giuridico dei preti fidei donum, esaminando la partecipazione dei sacerdoti a tale missione ad gentes dalle origini fino ad oggi. Alla luce dell'enciclica fidei donum di Papa Pio XII, del Magistero e delle norme codicali vigenti, l'Autore rileva che il sacerdote fidei donum è dotato di strumenti giuridici qualificanti, ad esempio lo statuto di transmigazion, che gli permette di trasferirsi da una Chiesa particolare ad un'altra, attraverso la cosiddetta licentia transmigrandi. Questo fatto esalta la comunione nella Chiesa, resa visibile attraverso lo scambio di pastori per promuovere l'annuncio evangelico.
