The interpretation of what the vision of the „woman clothed with the sun“ (Rev 12) means is settled by the right interpretation of the child whose being bom and caught up to God’s throne is narrated. This article pleads for a strictly ecclesiological understanding: The child does not symbolize the Messiah, but the faithful Christians holding fast their confession in times of affliction. The woman does not represent the people of God in its unity of Old and New Covenants, but the church. |
