Le transfert linguistique et la traduction dans l'idiome vernaculaire impliquentils nécessairement une vulgarisation ? L'étude de plusieurs réécritures médiévales du traité bernardin amène à nuancer certaines des évidences habituellement admises. Il apparaît ainsi qu'à date ancienne (au tournant des xiie et xiiie siècles), le français a pu être le médium d'un discours savant, au même titre que le latin ; inversement, dès Vincent de Beauvais et son florilège de textes de Bernard, au milieu du xiiie siècle, c'est le latin qui sert à vulgariser un propos qui relève au départ de la haute spéculation religieuse. | ||
| 520 | |a Based on Latin and French revivals of Bernard de Clairvaux's treatise De diligendo Deo, this study examines the relationship between popularisation, understood as the adaptation of knowledge to a new audience, and the choice of the so-called vulgar language. Does linguistic transfer and translation into the vernacular necessarily imply popularisation? A study of a number of medieval rewritings of the Bernardin treatise casts doubt on some of the generally accepted truths. For example, it appears that at an early date (the turn of the twelfth and thirteenth centuries), French may have been used as a medium for scholarly discourse, in the same way as Latin; conversely, from the time of Vincent de Beauvais and his anthology of Bernard's texts in the mid-thirteenth century, it was Latin that was used to popularise a subject that was initially a matter of high religious speculation. | ||

Bedeutet Übertragung und Übersetzung in das Idiom der Volkssprache zwangsläufig eine Vulgarisierung? Die Untersuchung mehrerer mittelalterlicher Neufassungen von Bernhards Traktat führt dazu, einige der üblicherweise angenommenen Selbstverständlichkeiten zu nuancieren. So zeigt sich, dass das Französische zu einem frühen Zeitpunkt (an der Wende vom 12. zum 13. Jahrhundert) in gleicher Weise wie das Lateinische das Medium eines gelehrten Diskurses sein konnte? demgegenüber ist es seit Vinzenz von Beauvais und seinem Florileg von Bernhardtexten in der Mitte des 13. Jahrhunderts das Latein, das dazu dient, eine Aussage zu vulgarisieren, die ursprünglich in den Bereich hoher religiöser Spekulation fällt. | ||
