The Historical Development and Characteristics of Courses at Korean Universities

| Summary: | 본 연구는 21세기에 들어와서 문화비평과 문화콘텐츠의 중요성이 부각되면서 현재까지 25년간 교양과목으로 개설되었던 한국 대학들의 <종교와 영화> 강좌가 전개되었던 역사적 전개 양상과 특징을 설명하는 한편, <종교와 영화> 강의계획서를 분석함으로써 강좌의 구성 방향과 운영방식의 특징을 집중적으로 검토하였다. 또한 flipped learning, PBL, 학생들의 발표와 토론 등을 통해서 종교에 대한 이해와 영화 해석 능력 제고를 학생주도적으로 습득하는 중소형 강좌의 학생 참여형 교육과, 강사가 다양한 종교학 이론과 영화학 이론을 연계하여 종교와 영화의 유기적 연결과 융합적 이해를 도모하는 (초)대형 강좌의 융합형 교육 모델을 집중적으로 비교하였으며, 종교와 영화 강좌에서 다룰 만한 주제와 소재 및 관점과 이론 등을 두루 검토함으로써 향후 바람직한 강좌 개발의 방향과 방법을 제안하였다. This study explains the historical development and characteristics of courses at Korean universities, which have been offered as liberal arts courses for the past 25 years as the importance of cultural criticism and cultural content has been highlighted in the 21st century. By analyzing the syllabi of courses at Korean universities, the direction of the course composition and the characteristics of the lecture system were intensively reviewed. In this article, I intensively compared the student-led education model of small or medium-sized courses in which students learn to understand religion and improve their ability to interpret films on their own through flipped learning, PBL, and students’ presentations and discussions, and the convergence model of super-large lectures that promote organic connection and convergent understandings of religion and film combining religious studies and film studies from an academic point of view. Additionally, some themes, materials, viewpoints, and theories that can be dealt with in religion and film lectures were reviewed. Singnificantly, I suggested several directions and methods of desirable course development for the future by analyzing all syllabi of courses at Korean universities. |
