Description
Summary:The parish church of Our Lady of Fátima, built on the outskirts of Aveiro (1964-68) sought to be an urban church but remained rural. It is a masterpiece of architecture and liturgy, a frontier work in a revolutionary time, from the Second Vatican Council, designed by the architect Luiz Cunha. Thus, on the outskirts of a city, a place of encounter and relationship was created, between two clashing communities (Póvoa do Valado and Mamodeiro), to concelebrate the presence of Jesus among us. A modern church with traditional and local roots that remains new and in the original spirit, that is, poor and mediating.
