Zus. mit Harold R.Willoughby (1890–1962) war C. an der krit. Edition von ntl. Hsn. beteiligt (The Four Gospels of Karahissar, 1936; The Elizabeth Day McCormick Apocalypse, 1940). Bekannt wurde C. durch seine Beiträge zur Textkritik (: II.). Hier erwies sich C. als Initiator neuer Ansätze zur Klassifizierung von Hsn. (sog. »Claremont Profile Method«). Als Hochschuladministrator beeinflußte C. nachhaltig den Ausbau theol. Ausbildungsstätten nach dem 2. Weltkrieg. |
