Description
Through sources attributed to Prisciliano, contemporary and current sources, the researcher has four objectives: 1) to reconstruct as much as possible the original reality of his life, religious work and death by imperial execution in 385, despiteto his persecutors and critics, inside and outside the early Christian and high medieval Church; 2) to put the accent on the priscillian movement, hegemonic in the Galician Church between the years 411 and 550, during the reign of the Suevi; 3) to examine the assumption of him as the first of the Galician martyrs in the Galician thought of the 19th and 20th centuries; 4) contribute to the present demand of Galician theologians and Christians for a rehabilitation of Prisciliano as a good Christian in the context of the transition from primitive Christianity to the medieval institutional Church.
