Il macarismo di Gv 20,29 dichiara fonte di una felicità più che desiderabile la fede che nasce in assenza di visione, ma i protagonisti dei racconti pasquali godono tutti di un'esperienza di visione del Risorto o, perlomeno, dei suoi segni. Lo studio ha inteso fare chiarezza, tramite l'approccio narrativo, mosso da un'ipotesi: nel momento in cui l'autore si appresta a chiudere il proprio libro, congedandosi dal lettore con i racconti della risurrezione, mette precisamente a tema la questione di come si potrà ancora credere in Gesù senza poterlo più vedere nel tempo successivo al suo ritorno al Padre. Quando Gesù, il Logos incarnato, non sarà più fisicamente presente, sarà ancora possibile credere in lui allo stesso modo in cui credettero quelli che lo videro con i propri occhi?
