| Summary: | According to Erik H. Erikson concept of basic hope represents individual’s conviction that world is meaningful, orderly arranged, human-friendly and just. The idea of hope gets activated at the times of turmoil and personal crisis because of death or incurable disease among family or friends, personal health problems, catastrophe or war. Religion helps to re-create a world after the loss. In order to analyze relations between traumatic experiences and basic hope level, there were interviews with 16 Muslim-Chechen refugees, who came to Poland after first or second Chechen war, conducted. Depending upon level of hope they saw differently meaning of their traumatic experience, future developments, chances of getting support from other people. None of them ever questioned directly God’s will and justice. |
