| Summary: | In the study of religion there is still a need for research on the obscure problem of ritual in Tantric traditions seen from the psychosomatic perspective. The article is dealing with the Vaiñëava Sahajīya tradition, which was very active in Bengal between 16th and 19th century and which was a fusion of bhakti and tantric traditions. The paper analyzes the structure and contents of ritual, its physiological correlates and try to grasp the ritual of the Vaiñëava Sahajīyas in broader, historical and phenomenological perspective. It takes also into account some medical data. The main problem is being controlled and induced by special means of mystical experience, which are the key element of the tantric ritual. It contains sexual intercourse, which controlled by yogic discipline. |
