Summary: | The search for explanation of genesis of religious fundamentalism in the United States discusses a conflict between modernity and traditionalism in a context of a conflict between and central, urban, progressive, scientific and peripheral, rural, obscure. Lynchburg, Virginia, became a symbol of what was wrong with modernity imposing pseudoscientific policies of eugenics and growth fundamentalism resulted from that experience. |
