Description

The phenomenon is described in two case studies and then discussed in the context of Homeric scholarship in Alexandria, where repetitive lines could be considered spurious. It is argued that the similar textual approach points to interaction between Jewish translators and textual scholars in Ptolemaic Alexandria.
