Summary:An influential view among environmentalists and ecologists is that religion, in general, and Christianity, in particular, not only have nothing to offer to environmental ethics but are actually hostile to the environment. I argue that a biblically informed theocentric environmental ethic of stewardship offers rich resources for duty-based environmental ethics in general and, in particular, for establishing grounds for restoration, conservation, and preservation of the environment.
