Summary: | Using Pierre Bourdieu and Peter Berger as theoretical references, this paper analyzes the song "Guerra Santa" by Gilberto Gil, proposing an approximation between the fields of studies of religion and Brazilian popular music. At the same time, the analysis shows how religion operates based on the logic of market competition. The article highlights Gilberto Gil's contribution of reading and interpreting religious, social, and cultural phenomena of his time, while encouraging understanding and tolerance toward other cultures. |
