Description
Summary:The "status" refers to the ability that a person permanently acquires through a sacramental (Baptism, Confirmation, Order, Matrimony) or non sacramental action. Together with this "personal" status, there is a "functional" one, that is all the rights and duties the person received after a designation or any other office. This article deals with the personal and functional status of the permanent deacon in the light of what happened after the Second Vatican Council. The council assembly firmly upheld the presence of the diaconate in the Church and the subsequent documents tried to delineate this ministry. This paper, starting from these sources, outlines Deacons 'active and passive prerogatives to exercise their ministry properly.
