| Summary: | Irenaeus of Lyon, Father of the Church who died around 202, was only proclaimed Doctor of the Church on January 21, 2022, with the title of Doctor unitatis which underlines his role as a «spiritual bridge» between the East and the West. But he also deserves this title on the doctrinal level. By looking at the use made by Fr. Henri de Lubac of the writings of Irenaeus, we discover both a unified theology and a doctrine of the unity of the Church. The teaching of Saint Irenaeus binds together the mysteries of the faith in a view that embraces the dimensions of the Universe and of the History of the world from the origins, as we show through some salient points of his thought. Irénée de Lyon, Père de l’Église décédé vers 202, n’a été proclamé Docteur de l’Église que ce 21 janvier 2022, avec le titre de Doctor unitatis qui souligne son rôle de «pont spirituel» entre l’Orient et l’Occident. Mais il mérite également ce titre sur le plan doctrinal. En se penchant sur l’usage fait par le P. Henri de Lubac des écrits d’Irénée, nous découvrons aussi bien une théologie unifiée qu’une doctrine de l’unité de l’Église. L’enseignement de saint Irénée relie entre eux les mystères de la foi dans une vue qui embrasse les dimensions de l’univers et de l’histoire du monde depuis les origines, ainsi que nous le montrons par le biais de quelques points saillants de sa pensée. |
