| Riepilogo: | Until the mid-twentieth century, the Catholic Church did not recognize the principle of religious freedom, and hence the freedom of conscience. That is why her attitude to other religions, especially Christian churches, was based on the ecclesial and soteriological exclusivism "Extra Ecclesiam Romanam nulla salus" - "Out of the Roman Church there is no salvation." The Second Vatican Council (1962-1965) approved the "Decree on Religious Freedom", which opened the way for dialogue with other religions and ecumenism with Christian churches, especially the Orthodox. До середини ХХ століття Католицька церква не визнавала принципу релігійної свободи, а відтак і свободи совісті. Саме тому її ставлення до інших релігій, передовсім християнських церков, будувалося на еклезіальному і сотеріологічному ексклюзивізмі «Extra Ecclesiam Romanam nulla salus» - «Поза Римською Церквою немає спасіння». ІІ Ватиканський Собор (1962-1965рр.) схвалив «Декрет про релігійну свободу», відкривши ним шлях до діалогу з іншими релігіями та екуменізму з християнськими церквами, насамперед з Православною. |
