Canons 764 (CIC/17) and 872, 873 (CIC/83): Regarding the Recording of Baptismal Sponsors

In arriving at his new assignment as pastor, Father Tom notices that in the baptismal register, many entries show multiple sponsors for each person baptized. He imagines that this has been a custom for some years in the parish and wonders whether it accords with the Church’s law.
