Summary: | Bernard J.F. Lonergan (1904-1984) is best known as a theorist of knowledge. However in his great work Method in Theology (recently republished in a new Italian translation) Lonergan wonders if it is always true that nothing is loved unless it is first known. The experience of falling in love opposes this axiom. Thus, to be in love with God as experienced is to be in love unrestrictedly. This could be the grace that God offers to all men, which supports what is good in the religions of mankind, which explains how those who have never heard the gospel can be saved. (English) |
