| Summary: | The fortunate coincidence between the current Synod and the 50th anniversary since the publication of Method in Theology prompts us to reflect on "synodality" in theological work. For Lonergan, the exercise of existential operations as well as the very intentional dynamism of the method transform the theologian himself and influence his contribution because of what he learns from the methodical dialogue with past and current theological doctrines. The theologian's doctrinal contribution is autonomous, but it cannot be solitary or self-referential. It is rather the fruit of a methodical, cumulative and communitarian journey that is truly synodal. (English) |
