| Summary: | Focusing on a term included in the theme of the 2023 Synod, 'participation', the study examines an institution already extant in the Eastern Catholic Churches, consultation. Consultation can be broadly described as the involvement of others in the decision-making process. Beyond the traditional narrow understanding of consultation for the purpose of consent or counsel, consultation can also serve to coordinate and build consensus. After treating the various levels of requirement for consultation, the study demonstrates that consultation with subordinates takes a different form than consultation with peers. Finally various consultative bodies in the eparchy are examined and possible improvements are offered for consideration. En se concentrant sur un terme inclus dans le thème du Synode de 2023, la «participation», l’étude examine une institution déjà existante dans les Églises catholiques orientales, la consultation. La consultation peut être décrite de manière générale comme l’implication d’autres personnes dans le processus de prise de décision. Au-delà de la compréhension traditionnelle étroite de la consultation aux fins d’un consentement ou d’un avis, la consultation peut également servir à coordonner et à bâtir un consensus. Après avoir traité des différents niveaux d’exigence en matière de consultation, l’étude démontre que la consultation des subordonnés prend une forme différente de celle des pairs. Enfin, les différents organismes consultatifs de l’éparchie sont examinés et des améliorations possibles sont proposées. |
