Summary: | The article systematizes the peasant language of the Gospels, especially in the words of Jesus of Nazareth. Through this survey, it presents, thematically, the main agricultural activities of the rural society in which Jesus lived. Special attention is given to the cultivation of cereals, but also to grapes, olive trees, fig trees and vegetables. The guiding hypothesis says that Jesus communicated with peasant people and used the language of this rural area of Galilee, as a popular wise prophet, when proposing a novelty, the Kingdom of Heaven. The objective is to demonstrate the importance and meaning of the metaphors of the peasantry, in the evangelical texts. Methodologically, the article is organized according to the agricultural process, as far as possible. It comments on some more representative texts and cites others by way of illustration. It intends to arouse greater interest in interpreting the Gospels and the very person of Jesus, from a peasant perspective. |
