| Summary: | The study deals with the Alexandrian and Antiochian events of the years 362-363, with the unsuccessful attempts at reconciliation between the various dissenting anti-Arian groups. The focus is on the failure to achieve ecclesial communion between Athanasius and Meletius. Although ecclesial politics motives were certainly very influential, the study tries to show that theological motives should not be overlooked either, namely the deficient pneumatology of the Meletians. |
