Description
Summary:The present study proposes an approximation to the theopoetics of Saint John of the Cross - to a poetry that is theological and to a theology that is poetic - from four points of view: 1) the meaning of the "substantial word" as an internal link that unites mysticism and poetry; 2) the prologue to the Spiritual Canticle which contains a true poetics of mystical literature, encompassing such fundamental aspects as experience, inspiration, the Biblical model and communicative efficacy; 3) the theopathic state which the author already describes in his first poem; and 4) the theological system of his poetry through some examples of thematic continuity taken from Romance, Pastorcico, Noche and Llama.
