Description
Summary:This article explores the role visual liturgical art plays in fostering a sense of sacred space in Pentecostal worshiping communities. Two common ways visual liturgical art is utilized in the context of worship is through prophetic art and church-sponsored gallery openings. Both of these measures help cultivate communal, sacred spaces in worship, while the former is practiced regularly in Pentecostal churches, and the latter is practiced more broadly amidst myriad contemporary denominational or free churches. As a third option, the majority of this article explores the potential of utilizing art installations to create sacred spaces, and how Pentecostals can uniquely utilize this form of visual liturgical art.
