Description
Summary:Amoris laetitia, like no previous magisterial document, is the fruit of an intensive and years-long synodal process. By involving as many of the faithful as possible through the consultations in preparation for the two bishops' synods of 2014 and 2015 in an active process of impartially and attentively listening to those who live in the most diverse forms of relationships and family situations, it showed how the stark division between the teaching and the listening church can be overcome and new conception given to situations that previously lay outside doctrinal conception. Both aspects, listening and the awareness that in the community of the church all believers are first of all learners but also teachers, are prerequisites for a church that understands itself as synodal. The article tries to work out, on the basis of Amoris laetitia, what married couples and families have to teach the church, and thus also the church's magisterium, and what it means to treat all family constellations seriously as domestic churches and as subjects of evangelization.
