Resumo: | The continuation of the message of Islam with generations in their changes, and the consolidation of religiosity in the life of the nation, requires that Muslim scholars follow this development, and reconsider the components and mechanisms of religious affairs with a new vision derived from the spirit of religion and its purposes keeping up with developments in the human community at various levels. This goes in line with the saying of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH): « Allah will raise for this community at the end of every hundred years the one who will renovate its religion for it». This paper seeks to shed light on the concept of religious reform as it is perceived by Moroccan Muslim scholars. In particular, the paper is divided into two main parts. The first part addresses the concept of religious reform and its importance in the era of modernity while the second part presents the Moroccan religious reform experience. To this end, emphasis will be laid on the main aspects of the religious reform, including the following: training scholars and imams in accordance with the demands of the era of modernity, involving women in the management of religious affairs, restructuring religious institutions, and involving the media in the religious reform. |
