| Summary: | The aim of this article is to use Ulrich Beck’s process of individualization in religion to examine the process of individualization in the dancing costumes of a specific geographical area which comprises seven villages of the province of Segovia. Those costumes, which coat the dancing body with sacredness, acquire their full symbolic connotations within the festive-Catholic context of the ritual dances dedicated to the Virgin of Rosario. Theories coming from the sociology of religion, the sociology of fashion and anthropology will help in the process of exploring those questions. |
