Description
Summary:This article aims to discuss brazilian catholic thought the standpoint of Mário de Andrade’s work, in its heuristic potential to interpolate contemporary theoretical debates. There’s a consideration of the historical context in question, so that a control is established for the analysis of the text. Following that, I seek to unfold the meanings of alterity, equality and collectivity formation in the particular face taken by Catholicism in Mário de Andarade’s work, particularly the political potential of these meanings. To put Mário de Andrade’s work in perspective inside his context, I seek his dialogue with Alceu Amoroso Lima, representative of Brazilian catholic thought in the early 20th century.
