| Summary: | This paper aims to present the distinct representations and diversity of functions of the feminine element regarding the religious myths and symbols of the Indian subcontinent. The Hindu religious imagery reflects a wide and rich field of immanence of the feminine ontological foundation. The multiple symbolic representations of the religious feminine can be perceived through the variety of goddess, traditionally divided into two specific groups: the benevolent ones who are always represented as consorts of the male deities and the ferocious and independent goddesses, generally associated with the immanent/transcendent absolute source, brahman. |
