Description
Summary:The Treaty of the Seven Victories (1614) of Diego de Pantoja (1571-1618), abbreviated Qike, is the first systematic exposition ever written in Chinese language about the Western moral tradition addressed to the Confucian literati. It is a masterpiece of intercultural literature. This research paper translates the prefaces prepared both by Pantoja and some Chinese literati, and comments on texts never rendered before in any other language. These texts witness to an unprecedented kind of philosophic and humanistic dialogue at the time of the first globalization on Ibero-American pathways.
