Description
Summary:De Solistitionis insula magna is a remarkable document, supposedly autobiographical, in which Trezenzonius narrates a voyage to an island paradise after observing it through a mirror in Farum Brecantium. Trezenzonius is identifiable with "San Treeçom" or "San Tersón" (among other names), venerated in Tuy since the Middle Ages. The history of this cult we will trace here. After "revisiting" Trezenzonius’ text, I deduce that it was probably written from the middle or end of the 11th century onwards in order to convince a scholarly public of the reality of his voyage. An edition of the text and a Spanish translation are presented.
