Summary:This article surveys recent developments in the field of Parshanut studies. It explores the editing, publication, and translation of new text editions of medieval commentaries and provides an overview of current debates concerning the development of Karaite exegesis and the school of peshat commentary in Northern France. Using a case study of medieval Jewish commentaries on the book of Job it highlights those biblical exegetes who are currently receiving scholarly attention and the types of questions being asked about them and the works they composed. Finally, some topics for future research are highlighted.
